I’m sure you’ve answered thi s many times before, but what’s with the cool plates?

Super clean car, by the way. I’m a bit jealous at the moment.

Cleanest car on oppo. What is your take on DA polishers?

Some people don’t like their licence plates on the internet. People can replicate them and stick them on a similar looking car to avoid fines, etc... or mask a stolen car. Yes the car is in plain site on the road, however if someone has stolen a red Ford Fiesta ST, they will likely do a quick Google search to find a similar car, copy the licence plate and then stick it on the stolen car.

These are my ‘detailing plates ’ (show plates) I use to cover the licence plate for taking pictures rather than losing photo quality by editing the images late on the computer.

The plates have my screen name, the name of the county I live in and it’s flag.

Kinja'd!!!

My old plates were classic silver text on a black back ground.

She’s three years old in March, so only 22 years to go.

I won’t have her then, she’s being appraised tomorrow to see how much can be knocked off the next car. Which incidentally looks like it’ll just be the same again, just new.

Cheers mate.

DAs are fantastic for both new and experienced users, they are more forgiving than rotaries for beginners, etc...

Saying that, a forced rot ation DA is better but more expensive than a reciprocal rotation DA polisher, but if it’s for personal use, a short throw reciprocal polisher is all you need, if your going to be polishing more often, go for a forced rotation polisher, if you want to cut and often go for a long throw forced rotation polisher.

I’d love a Dragon Green Metallic ones but the Sportline which you can get the colour in, is £2,000 more than the SE L Exec, I’ll be going for.

Kinja'd!!!

So will likely go for the same colour as Piglet is, Petrol Blue Metallic, if I can’t get the red for a good price.

Will stick with the Modus alloys on Piglet though.

Don’t get me wrong, I love the colour but fancy a colour that really pops like the Dragon Green or just something different to the blue such as the red. We’ll see.

Mmmmm. Superb. I like the Huevos dent in the driver's seat because anyone who drives that car must have huge balls. Well planned Skoda.

She’s coming up three, she’s a great car but the Superb has been updated with new entertainment and engine. Got a great price when we ordered her and while she’s as new and so low mileage will get a better price than when the Superb gets a full make over in September and the prices of the previous gen fall a bit.

Lol. The seat has stretched a little over time with the heated seats being used from time to time in the cold while waiting for the demister to work on the front and rear windows.

Thanks. I want something smaller but with having a wheel ch air using step-father and housebound mother that needs a wheel chair, the car needs to take at least one wheel chair on a regular basis or I’d never hear the end of it and like ly just get called selfish, yadda yadda yadda....

I really like the new Skoda Scala that’s coming out soon but the Superb gets a facelift in September so want to trade before the price of the current gene ration falls.

The Scala looks great in green metallic.

been there... had a chrysler voyager back when me dad was around and in a wheelchair.. removed the middle row so once he’d hauled himself into the passenger seat we’d just dump the wheelchair where the middle row was.. never even had to fold the thing :p

what you gonna do... they are your parents...(course me mums still doing mostly fine... dad went young)

that scala looks like it would hold a wheel chair tho.. assuming its the foldy kind

good looking car

I recently bought one along with a Medium compound and Chemical Guys VSS, i want learn paint correction and from my research the VSS gives great results as a 1 step.

There are many pad and polish combinations out there, it’s a mine field.

A medium compound will have quite a cut on it to remove swirls, so you may want a regular or finishing polish such as CG V38, to refine the results. Once you’ve used the VSS to get the paintwork back to how you want it followed by V38 , you should only need to use V38 to keep on top of it.

Yeah i am a bit timid about using the medium cut for a first time. The VSS seem to be the way to go for a one step. I got a question about sealants, when should they be used?

Buy a panel from a scrap yard to practice on is the best advice I could give for a first time polisher or someone wanting to try a deeper cut polish.

Sealants can be used whenever you’d use wax, only you need to apply sealants only a third as often as a wax, easier to apply, etc...

Brilliant. I once was so hesitant to wet sand a car I went 200 miles with a friend down to where they were holding a wet sanding and polishing class, paid a small fortune and it was literally to get me passed that counter intuitive hump of using wet sand paper to remove scratches and coming back from it using different grits and polishes.

Wet sanding looked scary to me im going to start with the DA and the VSs to get my feet wet.

Sounds like a plan.

As I say, a scrap panel lets you try new techniques without risking do ing any damage to something you love.

The thing with any polisher, is to make sure the pad is correctly centred or you’ll get heavy vibrations and use the DA flat or it’ll start ‘walking’ from you.
